Welcome back!! We look forward to a good start to a great Rinceoil Fingal year.
This year is our 15th year in existence - a fantastic achievement and a great testimony to all involved!
November 2008
*Sunday, 23rd November, Skerries Mills, 12-2pm - Rinceoil will perform upstairs in the Café. Again this event is for all our musicians, learners and experienced. We would encourage all our musicians to attend, maybe to listen at first, if too shy (!!), and then join in. It is a very informal atmosphere and is a lovely way to get started on performing.
So if you didn't make it last time, come along and give it a go! And age is no excuse!!!

*Christmas Day Mass, St. Maur's Church, Rush, 9am - It has long been a tradition that Rinceoil Fingal play traditional music and carols for 9am Mass. We invite all our members, young and not so young to get involved. We will be having a number of practices, so keep an eye on the website for details.

Tuesday, 27th, and Wednesday 28th May, are last classes for this term, and the year.
Check out June 2008 events for dates of practices for Scoil Samhraidh Chris Langan End of Year Concert. All our budding musicians, both adult and children, are actively preparing their performance pieces in class.
SCT Exams.
A number of our music students, have undertaken their Traditional Irish Music Examinations in the Accordion and Concertina during May. They travelled to Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann headquarters in Monkstown. We look forward to great achievements.

Easter Sunday, 23rd March 11am - Loughshinny Mass .
Monday, 17th March 1pm - Rush St. Patrick's Day Parade All musicians, learners and dancers met at the Millbank. There was a great turnout and the weather held up! Thanks to all who participated!!
Saturday, 15th March 2-3pm - Rush Nursing Home. Rinceoil Fingal performed for our local senior citizens. There was a great atmosphere with lots of senior talent on the dance floor and even foot tapping from chairs!! A number of people also got up to sing some old favourites. As always, it a pleasure for Rinceoil Fingal to perform here because there is as much received from our audience as is given by us in performing. We look forward to a return visit.
Thursday evening, 13th March - Céilí at St. Joseph's Secondary School - Rinceoil Fingal played for the annual Céilí in St. Joseph's Secondary School for the 3rd year running. There was a great turnout, both of band members and of students. Both students and teachers displayed their dancing skills agus bhí an craic ar fheabhas! Thanks goes to all our musicians and to Dara Coleman, our sound engineer.
February 2008
Tuesday, 26th February - SCT Exams. A number of our Rinceoil Fingal music students took their SCT Exams today in Monkstown. There were 4 piano accordions, 1 tinwhistle and 1 concertina. All were very proud of their achievement and eagerly await their results. Well done to all!
Sunday, 24th February 12-2pm - Skerries Mills – Rinceoil Fingal musicians and dancers performed. There was a great turnout and everyone enjoyed the music.
Sunday, 17th February 5-6pm – Seisiún at Sailing Club, Rush. A “slow” seisiún took place for beginners of all instruments for both children and adults who are taking part in Rinceoil Fingal lessons. This gave an opportunity to play at a comfortable pace. Watch this space for future sessions. Parents, family and friends are welcome.
Sunday, 17th February 6-7pm – Seisiún at Sailing Club, Rush. A seisiún for the more experienced musicians followed the slow session.
We hope to continue with these seisiúin on a regular basis. Check regularly with the website for updates.
Sunday, 3rd February - 11am Mass, Loughshinny. This was a lovely Mass, again with great participation from the congregation, in the singing of the old hymns.
Friday, 1st February – 8.30-9.30pm – St. Maur’s Church - practice for Mass in Loughshinny.
January 2008
Friday, 25th January – 8.30-9pm at Rush Community Centre, Registration for new music term took place. Most people registered and have paid their fees. However, there are still some outstanding fees due, and it would be appreciated if the persons still due to pay their fees could do so at their classes on week of 5th February. The term is 14 weeks and the fee is €85. There are reductions for families and where a person is learning more than one instrument.

29th December - Panto Time in Rush, (Cinderella) in St. Maur's, G.A.A. Complex. Very enjoyable Show and enjoyed by all.

25th December 9am Mass, St. Maur's Church, Rush
23rd December 11am - Loughshinny Mass
16th December 11am Loughshinny Mass This was a lovely Mass and the participation in the singing of the hymns by the congregation made it very special.
16th December 2-3.30pm - Rush Nursing Home Rinceoil Band provided seasonal music and Irish, music, song and dance which was very much enjoyed by the residents and their family, friends and staff.
15th December - Busking in Grafton St.. Rinceoil Fingal played some seasonal music, along with some jigs and reels etc., in Grafton Street from 1-4pm. The Street was alive with busy shoppers, Buskers , Carol Singers and there was a lovely Christmas atmosphere. Part of the proceeds went go to CF. Everyone enjoyed the day. Thanks to the musicians and also thanks to the parents and friends who came along on the day and helped out. It was much appreciated.
9th December - Lusk Nursing Home - Rinceoil Fingal provided seasonal music and carols, along with some old time waltzes, marches and plenty of lively jigs, reels and hornpipes at the Annual Christmas Party in Lusk Nursing Home. As usual it was a great evening for both young and old with everybody joining in the song and dance and getting into festive mood. The arrival of Santa, with gifts for everyone, made it very magical indeed. Along with the great sing-alongs, there were talented singers and dancers amongst the residents and staff. Some took to the stage and sang familiar old time favouites....including Danny Boy, Memories, Irish Eyes are Smiling, White Christmas, to name but a few. There was some lively Sean Nós dancing from a staff member which went down a treat with everyone clapped along. Rinceoil Fingal's junior members did some lovely Irish dance and sang some popular Christmas numbers, which everyone enjoyed. Overall a great evening was had by all.
8th December = Turning on of Christmas Tree Lights in Rush- A few Rinceoil musicians braved the weather and turned up to join with Rush Junior Folk to play some Christmas music and carols in Main Street, Rush, It was a great evening and the arrival of Santa from the North Pole was the highlight of the evening.
25th November, Rinceoil Fingal musicians and dancers were invited by the Committee of Gaelscoil Ros Eo to perform some Irish music, song and dance in Rush Sailing Club from 4.00 until 6.00. There was very good attendance by band and dancers and it was a very enjoyable evening.
Irish Dance Workshop - 24th November for Rinceoil Dancers, conducted by Ann Coffey, took place ...another successful workshop.
Intercultural Music Session, 24th November As part of the Intercultural Festival, organised in the Fingal area, Rinceoil Fingal hosted an intercultural music session in Rush Sailing Club, Rush, County Dublin. Although it wasn't too well attended, nevertheless those who did turn up were greatly entertained by Rinceoil Fingal. The audience participation added to the wonderful atmosphere on the night. Thanks to Niall for his great playing on the drums and clarinet which went down a treat with everyone. Also thanks to Brian for the lovely food.
Skerries Mills - Sunday 18th November, 2007 12.00-2.00pm. Rinceoil Fingal performed Irish music, song and dance.
An Irish Dance Workshop - Saturday, 20th October,conducted by Ann Coffey, took place in the Community Centre, Rush from 11am to 1pm. This was a very successful workshop and well attended.
Skerries Mills Sunday 14th October. 12-2pm
Soundwaves Festival, Skerries - Sunday 23rd September- Rinceoil Fingal musicians and dancers performed great Irish music and dance in Skerries Mills Car Park.
Vintage Show, Lusk - Sunday, 10th September - Rinceoil Fingal Band and Dancers entertained at this great Annual Show.
Rush Drama 80th Anniversary: 26 August, 2007. Rinceoil Fingal musicians and dancers gave two lively performances to a very appreciative audience in the Milllbank Threatre, Rush, to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Drama.
World Fleadh Portlaoise, 10-12th August 2007
Rinceoil Fingal performed two very successful concerts on the Town Stage in Portlaoise to a large and very appreciative audience.
The group also performed in seisiúin in many of the local pubs, with a great seisiún by Rinceoil Junior Group on Sunday evening in Keegans Pub, which drew in large crowds and created a great atmosphere. Rinceoil Members were invited to do a radio interview and performance on the Saturday night.
A great highlight of the Weekend was when Grace Dowling, one of our junior members, was honoured 1st Place in the Junior Solo Button Accordion Competition, becoming World Junior Solo Button Accordion Champion 2007 ........ very proud moments for her family, for Rinceoil and Rush.
Scoil Samhraidh Chris Langan - 28th June - 1st July 2007 in Rush. Co. Dublin.
This was another very successful festival and thanks to all those who took part as well as sponsors, Fingal County Council and Ashley Ford Motors.
SCT Music Examinations - June 2007
Congratulations to the 10 Rinceoil Musicians on achieving such great results in the Traditional Irish Music Examinations held in Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Éireann Headquarters, Monkstown. All 10 musicians were awarded Certificates.
